About the Program

Under the Umbrella is an educational program that will challenge participants’ current perceptions about the management of patients with type 1 or type 2 diabetes who are at risk of severe hypoglycemia. By attending this virtual session, healthcare professionals can improve their knowledge and skills related to identifying risk factors and minimizing the risk of severe hypoglycemia by developing preparedness plans for their patients with type 1 or type 2 diabetes.

Program Learning Objectives
  • Review the characteristics and risk factors of severe hypoglycemia in patients with diabetes
  • Educate patients and caregivers on severe hypoglycemia to help prevent hypoglycemic events
  • Develop preparedness plans for managing episodes of severe hypoglycemia

Accreditation

CSEM: This event is an accredited group learning activity under Section 1 as defined by Maintenance of Certification (MOC) program of the Royal College of Physicians & Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC) for 1 hour of learning activity. It is approved by the Canadian Society of Endocrinology and Metabolism (CSEM). This program was co-developed and planned with CSEM and the CPD Network to achieve scientific integrity, objectivity and balance.

CCCEP: The Canadian Council on Continuing Education in Pharmacy has accredited this program for up to 2.25 CEUs.

OPQ: This continuing education activity is accredited by l’Ordre des pharmaciens du Québec.
